For nearly a year, I’ve been working with ParentsClick Network, Inc., a privately held social network and digital media technology company based in San Francisco.

As a Senior Designer and Creative Director, I designed website prototypes for the company’s nationwide multi-site parenting network.

The New LBJ

The New LBJ is an expansion of Interstate 635 around Dallas, Texas, described as “the most regionally significant transportation improvement project in North Texas.”

I designed a visual package for the introduction of The New LBJ to Dallas-area residents, city councils, commercial land owners, and media.

The project was designed for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). I served as a design subcontractor for the communications team of the Texas Transportation Institute. With only a month before rollout, I assisted the team by designing a brochure, maps, PowerPoint backgrounds, and a logo.

My role: Creative direction, design, layout

Judging for Association for Communication Excellence

I was asked to serve as a judge for the Association for Communication Excellence Critique & Awards program. ACE develops professional skills of its members to extend knowledge about agriculture, natural resources and life and human sciences to people worldwide.

I judged print advertising, illustration, and logos created by designers around the world — from Iowa to the Philippines. Entries were judged against each other and against a general standard of excellence.

Do-over Clothing

I designed the logo and top web banner (above) for Do-Over Clothing.com, a Houston-based company specializing in unique, waterproof babywear.

Happy New Year!

So far on this site, I’ve showcased some of my all-time favorite projects. The big, flashy ones. But realistically, not every client needs a big, flashy project.

I’ve designed countless flyers, folders, invitations, postcards, ads, forms, banners, presentation backgrounds, and, of course, the workhorse: the tri-fold brochure. If it has to look good, I’ve done it. Many of these projects are completed on a quick schedule and a low production budget — but not at the sake of quality design.

I’ll work on posting these gems. Stay tuned for updates!

Texas Wildfire Information Toolbox

I designed this logo and website for the Texas Forest Service. The Wildfire Information Toolbox is a centralized web site to share news, maps and details about wildfires in Texas.

I just discovered Silk Icons, a free icon set by famfamfam, with more than 700 16-by-16 pixel icons. Great for using in any web project.

Scrapbook: Family Memories

The scrapbooking industry is a million-dollar industry (or is it billion?) — yet I love the challenge of designing on a dime. For this 6×6 family memories book, I used a 99-cent sheet of stickers and paper scraps. Simple and sweet and cheap.
